The Texas Central Railway Company was chartered on May 30, 1879, to serve as a feeder line to the Houston and Texas Central Railway Company. Texas Central Railroad Company, was chartered on December 16, 1892, and acquired most of the property of the Texas Central Railway on January 23, 1893. The railroad was leased to the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad from 1914 to 1967 at which time it was reorganized and the portion from Dublin to Gorman, Texas was sold to the present corporation on December 1, 1967.
