The Savannah & Atlanta Railwayoperated in the state of Georgia with their headquarters in Savannah, Georgia. The Savannah & Atlanta Railway was incorporated in1915 and was 167 miles long. The railroad entered receivership in 1921 and emerged with its name unchanged in 1929. The railroad was purchased by the Central of Georgia Railroad in 1951 but continued to operate separately until the formation of the Central of Georgia Railroad, a subsidiary of the Southern Railway in 1971.
