The New York, Ontario & Western Railway was a Class 1 railroad that operated in the states of New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania with their headquarters in New York City, New York. The New York, Ontario & Western Railway operated from 1879 and lasted until March 29, 1957 when it was ordered to be liquidated by a bankruptcy judge. The railroad holds the distinction of being the first notable U.S. railroad to be abandoned in its entirety. The railroad was 569 miles long
