Nickel Plate Road was a nickname for the New York, Chicago & St. Louis Railroad. In 1960, the Nickel Plate Road had 2,170 of main line track and was headquarted in Cleveland, Ohio. The Nickel Plate Road was merged into the Norfolk & Western Railway on October 16, 1964.
